What We Do

There has been a rapid degeneration of standards in the western world including the church which some have inferred to have started in the late 1800s to early 1900s. This decline has continued to spread to the rest of the church.  Many in the church recognised that something serious has gone wrong but cannot put their finger on the cause of the problem. Many have even been trying in a diversity of ways to proffer possible solutions.

We do observer that so much has been done and continues to be done to shift the focus of the believer from God and his kingdom to the kingdom of this world and its ruler. It is being made to look like this world and its reality is all that there is. Believers in Christ are being enticed and deceived to think that all that matters is getting the best out of the world now. They have to belong and have no want of any type. Some have even claimed and continue to claim that “you can have your best in the here and now!”  “It is about you and what you feel not about some God somewhere” they claim.

There are also many movements in the church today focused on ways of being or doing a church. Thus there are terms like purpose-driven church, poverty-sickness-free church, enemy-free church, seeker-friendly church, prosperity-empowering church, emerging church, new expression church, all-problems-solved church, resident-alien church, missionary church and friendly church.

It is now in the church as it is in the world, people are creating niches for themselves within the body of Christ: they identify a problem, create a body of teachings and slap the name of Christ on it, advertise their wares, attract those who have such problems and who in many cases are gullible, sell their wares while in many cases impoverishing the sufferer even more, all in the name of Christianity and some special revelation.

Meetings after meetings, speakers after speakers all talk up the church as a personal-problem-solving edifice. The believer is gradually re-orientated to focus on his problem, whatever it is, it is the work of the devil and enemies and the church is there to solve and to worsen the whole problem, only that particular minister or speaker has the only solution!

However, such solutions have never solved anything. Rather the corruption and canker continues to spreading like wild fire within the church.

People who claim to be believers in Christ continue to live like Christ will never come again or even if He comes again He will have no choice but to just accept them as they are. However we believe those who buy into such unscriptural ways are probably part of the apostate church and not true members of the body of Christ.

We believe that most of the ills of the church can be traced to the abandonment of the Word of God: The Holy Scriptures as the all-sufficient authority for both faith and practice by the church.

A section of the church having abandoned the word of God brought in much corruption which has become self-sustaining and continues to replicate at an alarming rate. Hence self-centredness, self-love, self-satisfaction, self-righteousness, self-sufficiency, self-gratification, blessing and signs-seeking, open disregard for even things clearly forbidden by the word of God are in vogue and rule the lives of many.

These have replaced core teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ of self-denial and the practical discipleship he taught in His gospel of the kingdom of God in the holy bible as detailed in Matthew chapters 5-7. It is not uncommon now to hear someone claim to be a Christian who does not believe in the Holy Bible as the word of God or who deny the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are convinced that the only course to redress the situation is to return to the Holy Bible as the inspired, inerrant word of God that is the supreme governing document in all matters of the faith; coupled with serious prayer with both being carried out under the power of the Holy Spirit as was the case in the early church.

For it was so important and indeed critical to the life of the church that the twelve Apostles after they had received the Holy Spirit said:

“But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word” (Acts 6:4).

God’s commandment to Joshua is also for the church for all ages:

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8).

This is especially important in the light of the character of the word of God:

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: And in keeping of them there is great reward” (Psalm 19:7-11).

Anytime the word of God is abandoned by anybody, only a lie remains and a walk in darkness for it is

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple (Psalm 119:130).

Indeed the darkness is obvious in many church environments today: in some places the culture, traditions, current human thinking and trends have been so mixed up with certain aspects of the bible that is difficult if not impossible to justifiably call such corruption (syncretism) the Christianity of the bible. Obviously it is the spirit of the times, the wrong spirit that is in operation in many of the churches and not the Spirit of God. Also this corruption has resulted in one-sided teaching, a corrupt and misguided leadership, badly taught and greed-motivated followership making up the recipe for the current pathetic state of the church.

We believe the way back is to rectify what is wrong: return to the Word of God, the Holy Scriptures as the solid ground for everything about our Christian faith.

To this end we are committed to fervent and constant prayer couple with diligent study and practice of the word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We believe that God must first hear our prayer of confession and repentance before he would turn back the tide of ungodliness sweeping through the church.

We believe that the words of 2 Chronicles 7:14:

“if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”,

still apply to us in the church today. If the people of God genuinely repent, the Lord will revive his body, the church.

Our teachings, studies and preaching will be distributed as widely as possible using quality materials and through all available means of communication at no cost or as little cost as possible.
