Knowing Jesus Christ

Getting to know and being accepted by the Lord Jesus Christ is commonly referred to as being saved or born again.

Having heard about the Lord Jesus Christ you may be asking the question:

“What do I do now?”

This has been a favourite question of Scripture (Acts 2:37) and has been asked by numerous people who wanted to know and trust the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation over the ages.

The correct answer is also the favourite of the Holy bible:

“repent” (Acts 3:19, 20:21).

What to do is to trust Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.

According to the Holy Bible, this is how to believe in Jesus Christ for your salvation:

1. Accept that you have sinned and are incapable of attaining the righteousness of God on your own. Oh yes, in God’s assessment we fall short of His standard:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)

 And further:

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

In God’s language death is separation from God in hell after the physical death.

 2. Admit that you need forgiveness from God and that you cannot obtain this forgiveness on your own merit.

Remember that even in our sinful state God continued to show us His love and demonstrated this love by sending Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us:

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8).

God gave Jesus Christ to the world out of love (John 3:16).

 3. Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from death for your sin.

 4. Confess with your mouth Jesus Christ is your Saviour and Lord.

Again hear and be encouraged by the Scriptures:

“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Rom 10:8-10).

Further everyone that appropriates the sacrifice of Christ is acceptable to Him:

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom 10:13)

Arise and call upon the name of the Lord now!

 5. Pray this prayer from your heart NOW:

Dear Lord Jesus,

I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I deserve the penalty for my sins but do not have the means to pay.

I believe that you died on the cross for my sins; and that you rose from death to justify me and to give me eternal life.

I now invite you to come into my heart and be my Saviour and my Lord. From this moment, I will put aside my disobedient ways, desire you, trust, depend on and obey you for the rest of my life.

Please forgive me, change my life and lead me to know you better.

Thank you my Saviour and my Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

We appeal to you on behalf of the Living God to become reconciled to Him through our Lord Jesus Christ now. Please delay no more!
